If you were so inclined, you could think of this fan comic as a "fresh and modern" take on these beloved characters, more suitable for a contemporary audience (the gratuitous violence certainly helps). The only reason I mention this is because IDW, the current publisher of Disney comics in America have decided to switch directions and re-locate their very competent localization staff to other (thankfully still Disney-related) projects, while leaving the comic books in the hands of one Erin Brady. The results have been, shall we say, less than ideal. Most likely not a fault of Brady, but such radical corporate meddling are usually not a good sign (and the results speak for themselves). Why can't Disney comics ever have a dignified end in the states? Last time was that horrible KaBoom debacle (Ducktales #3, anyone?), which was farcial to the eleventh pedigree. I'm hoping some "fresh and modern" memes will crop up so we can at least laugh this whole thing off. What happened to you, IDW? You used to be cool.
